Recognized for its remarkable work in the community, the Ever Forward Club — a non-profit organization based in Oakland, CA — has provided a safe opportunity for young males to be real, when society says otherwise. The organization creates an environment that lays the groundwork for males to be able to communicate and express their different perspectives and experiences and reinforces that their voices do matter. Initiatives such as this one are leading the forefront in including young males “in the conversation” to help build capacity to achieve their goals and mold their futures.
Much like the Ever Forward Club, the Healthy Futures of Texas’ BAE-B-SAFE project values positive male engagement, empowerment, and inclusion in our sexual health programs for young adults in the Bexar County community. With its male-focused curriculum, BAE-B-SAFE creates a safe space for males to have healthy conversations about contraception, risky behaviors, anatomy, and healthy/unhealthy relationships.
BAE-B-SAFE is available to 18-19-year-old males on the campuses of St. Philip’s College, San Antonio College, and Palo Alto College. BAE-B-SAFE supports academic success by educating and empowering young adults about their reproductive and sexual health so they make healthy decisions and protect their futures.
